    Cisgenderless flag

Cisgenderless, also spelled Cis-Genderless, also called Cis-By-Default or Gender Detached, is a term that describes an individual who refers to themselves as cisgender despite not feeling a connection with any specific gender identity.[1][2]

Some who was assigned male at birth may identify as a man simply because they are generally perceived as one due to their physical appearance, but not for any other reason. One may not feel as though they have a gender identity outside of their physical sex or social gender roles.[3] Others may also identify as agender along with cisgender.[4] Those who are cisgenderless often do not experience any gender dysphoria.[5]

It may also be used to describe one's gender expression rather than gender identity.[3]

    History

The term "cis by default" was coined in a blog post written by user Ozymandias in 2015. The term "cis-genderless" was proposed by a user named R_1 on an AVEN forum. "Gender detachment" was coined by Canton Winer in a paper named, My Gender Is Like An Empty Lot: Gender Detachment and Ungendering Among Asexual Individuals.[2]

The cis-genderless flag was created by a user named ixi on an AVEN forum. The white represents being genderless, the pink represents those who are female, the blue represents those who are male, and the purple represents those who are intersex.[2]
