Cuntboy is a pejorative term primarily used against trans men and transmasculine individuals.[1] It's used to denote someone who is a man while also having a vagina.[2] The term has been reclaimed by some transmasculine and intersex individuals.[3] This can also include individuals assigned male at birth who still identify as a man in some way, but have sought sex-reassignment surgery.[2]
Due to its history of being fetishistic and objectifying, it is best to not call someone this term unless they are explicitly okay with it.[3][2]
History
The term is said to have originated from porn. This origin is part of the reason why some individuals may be uncomfortable around the reclaimed usage of it.[4]
Flags & Symbols
The first cuntboy flag was created by Tumblr user system-lgbt on February 23, 2019. The pink represents sex workers, the yellow represents those who are intersex, the white represents the idea of identifying one's sex as something opposite of what is typically associated with it and those who feel their genitalia does not fall under standard sex designation, the green represents those who are non-binary, and the purple represents trans men who are not masculine. The triangle symbolizes the idea of 'cutting away' the female identity from one's gender and natal sex. However, the creator states that this flag is not for those who use the term in a sexual context.[5]
Another cuntboy flag was created by Tumblr user awsteb on January 7, 2021. The pale pink represents feminine transmasculine individuals, the hot pink represents sexuality, the black represents the negative connotations of the word and its reclamation, along with androgynous transmasculine individuals, the green represents masculine transmasculine individuals, and the pale blue represents the stereotypes that are often combined with the fetishization of transmasculine individuals by using the stereotypes in a positive light. This flag is exclusive to transmasculine individuals.[6]
Another flag was created by Reddit user Loudteethonice. The red represents sex workers, the pink represents those who were assigned female at birth, the blue represents those assigned male at birth, the yellow represents those who are intersex and/or non-binary, and the black represents those who are asexual.[7]
