Wolffian is a term describing an individual who has testicles or a dominantly testonized sex.[1] The term was originally coined to describe those whose fetal development favored the Wolffian ducts.[2] However, the term is also used as an alternative to describing a "dyadic male," or someone who isn't intersex.[3]
Common Characteristics
Under the more specific definition, a wolffian individual has all of the following traits:[3]
- A penis
- Testicles
- A prostate
- The ability to create sperm
- The ability to impregnate others
- Has testosterone as their primary sex hormone
History
The term was proposed by a trans woman as an alternative for the term "testicular," in the comment section of a blog from the early 2010s.[2]
