Pan is an orientation prefix used to describe an individual who is attracted to other individuals regardless of gender. Like anyone, pan individuals may be attracted to some individuals and not others, but the gender of that individual does not play a factor in their attraction.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The prefix "pan-" comes from the Greek prefix meaning "all."[2]
Flags & Symbols[edit | edit source]
The pansexual flag is often used to represent all pan-oriented identities. The flag was designed around 2010 to bring awareness to the community by X user shrikeabyssals. The hot pink represents attraction to women, the yellow represents attraction to non-binary individuals, and the blue represents attraction to men.[3]
Another pan flag was designed by Reddit user ryany_040 on the r/QueerVexillology subreddit to be less bright.[4]
